welcome to my blogging space

From November 2003 - 2004 I was a crazy mad blogger on a very small, very independent blogging service which will now remain nameless. Suddenly, I noticed that things were no longer working correctly and I could smell the writing in forest - the site's days were numbered and worst of all, many, many people were about to lose all their work. Luckily, I managed a clugy backup -- I have local copies, but so far, they are not in any real, useable format. I just have local copies of the server generated webpages. Maybe someday I will try to recover some or all of it.

Yeah. Right.

Recently, as I was beginning to recover from the move and come out from under the cloud of too many medications I decided I wanted to start writing again. Of course my main goal is fiction, but in the meantime, I just need to get in the habit of writing. Since I lost my hosted blog, I had been hoping to host the blog on this site. However, the server admin never found the time to install Movable Type for me and I just didn't have the energy to learn. So recently I notice that Blogger had made some changes and decided to give it a try.

If you followed my old blog you will see some similarities and some changes. Yes, my cranky, vitriol is still going to be there, but I've decided to limit my reviews to a much shorter list and take of what I've been reading, watching, and hearing as of late. I'm using IMDb style Ratings: 1 = with no redemptive qualities whatsoever TO 10 = so great I want to see/read/hear it over and over and over. The links to purchase from my Amazon affiliate site are back as well.

One limitation of the new approach is no way to group posts other than by date. So now there are going to be multiple blogs as described below.

In the future I hope to improve the layout and add recent entries from all blogs to this one page. But things take time, especially since I don't have an HTML editor on my Mac laptop. (I may soon not have a laptop either.)

~ kore wa xianjiro no blog desu ~

Not only is this the reprise of my old blog's name, but this will now mainly serve as my journal. As it stands now it will include entries about my day-to-day life as well as observations about the world I try to live in. This blog will especially try to document what it is like to live on the fringe of a society because of my disability imposed poverty.

~ view . read . listen ~

Here you will find the list of movies seen, books read and listened to, and maybe even other things like games played or Cds heard. I provide a short take on the item with a basic recommendation and an IMDb style Ratings: 1 = with no redemptive qualities whatsoever TO 10 = so great I want to see/read/hear it over and over and over. The links to purchase from my Amazon affiliate site are back as well so anything you buy from these links provides a percentage to help my purchase items from Amazon in the future (origami books mostly).

~ future blog ideas ~

The next thing I want to add is a way to exchange things with folks from other countries. I've always enjoyed having things from a long way away - pins, stamps, cash, whatever. Just knowing that it comes from another country is interesting. But I want to take this a step further. I've been thinking about making it a craft exchange where I will send an origami box or something with maybe the Oregon Quarter or a stamp featuring Oregon or Lewis and Clark in exchange for something made by someone in another country. This is still in the planning stages and when I get it figured out, the new blog will appear, hopefully by the end of 2005!

I'm also toying with some sort of a way to get people to ride different buslines, visit places along the line, and then stamp a book showing they've been there. Maybe another blog could be used to feature rides and the places to visit, but this idea is in the very early stages of thought. Look for this in 2006.

Coming soon!
